How does a VPN work in China?
Each device that connects to the network has its own unique IP address, which determines the provider that provides Internet access, its location, and often contact information. In addition, information is collected from browsers about which sites you visit more often, what data you enter on them, what operating system is installed, PC hardware, and much more. Often this information is stored in browser cookies.
So, when you visit any resource on the global web, it will already know a lot of information about you, the device used, the provider, your tastes, etc.and all this by IP and data that the browser transmits about you.
When you connect via VPN and go to a site, the following happens:
The IP that the provider gave you is used to connect to the VPN server via an encrypted channel
In a virtual network, you are given a different IP address, it can be absolutely anything, even from Brazil
Traffic is encrypted and no one sees it
Then you connect to resources and various sites using a new IP address
Thus, the site you visited has no idea where you are actually from. If they try to hack you, they will hack your IP, just the same from Brazil.
And this happens with absolutely any connection on the Internet, whether it's a website or an online game. No one will know who you are or where you come from, which portals you prefer, which devices you use more often, and a lot of other confidential information.
As a result, you will see the site, resource, can play online games, but they will not be able to see you, your exact information. You can visit resources that are even blocked in your country or provider.
